We will be meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the AES cafeteria. Please have the girls wear older clothing, as we will be painting!
We also need definite yes/no on the following: Bell Manor, Fall Harvest Party, Harriet's Happiest Halloween and Daisy/Brownie Dance Party. We will have permission slips to sign. Please also bring money if you will be attending any of these events.
Also, the COOKIE ORDERS MUST BE TURNED IN BY OCT. 2. So if you want to turn in your sheet Thursday, please do.
Looking forward to a fun meeting!

Daisy/Brownie Dance Party

We know our Brownies love to dance so we want to tell you about the Daisy/Brownie Dance Party from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday Nov. 5, at Kilduff Hall, St. Francis de Sales Church, in Abingdon. Harford County has off school that day and the following day so you don't need to worry about a late night.
The cost is $5 per scout,  $3 per chaperone plus a non-perishable donation for the Food Pantry
Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis until hall capacity is reached. No tagalongs, no exceptions.
Adults other than leaders are only allowed if needed to meet Safety Wise adult/girl ratio for your troop! This is done to maximize the number of troops who can attend the event.
The snack consists of ice cream cups and jimmies. Please indicate if an alternate snack is needed. Alternate snack is goldfish. Drinks will include fruit punch and water.
The Scout cost includes DJ, patch, snack, drink, goodie bag, and door prizes! Chaperone costs contribute to DJ, goodie bag, and door prizes.
We need to know on Thursday!!!! if you will be attending. There will be a limited number of girls allowed to attend because of space and we don't want to miss out.

Our First Meeting

Just wanted to give the parents an update on our first meeting. Second-grade girls are not always forthcoming with details(!), so here's a brief overview of some of our activities.
  • First we went over the Girl Scout promise and law. The girls talked about what it means to them and how we can all try to live by these rules. We will be going over different sections of the law at our next meetings.
  • The Brownies said their promise and we all introduced ourselves. We sang "I've Got Something in My Pocket." The girls sounded great!
  • We talked about selling cookies and how the money we raise will help us do more fun events throughout the year. We also got to sample the new berry cookie!
  • The Brownies took turns writing rules for the year. Each girl signed her name. We'll go over these rules each time. Some of them are no shoving, listen to the adults and be nice. Good rules!
  • We will be collecting coins throughout the year to save up for a party/donate to an as yet undecided charity. The girls talked about wanting to help people who don't have a lot of money so part of the money will go to that. The girls can bring quarters, dimes, whatever. It doesn't have to be a lot, we just want to have them work toward something.
  • We sang "Taps" to close the first meeting.

One important note, if you could please make sure your Brownie has used the restroom before the meeting. Once one Brownie has to go, every Brownie has to go. We want to get a lot of activities accomplished in our next meeting and a special craft, and since an adult has to accompany a girl to the restroom, this cuts down on the time for instruction and time for the Brownie to finish her special craft. Of course we'll still take Brownies to the restroom if they need to go!!! It's just that a lot of our time in the first meeting was spent taking girls to the restroom.

If you'd like to practice the Brownie Smile Song here are they lyrics:

I've got something in my pocket,

That belongs across my face,

I keep it very close at hand,

In a most convenient place.

I'm sure you couldn't guess it,

If you guessed a long long while.

So I'll take it out and put it on,

It's a great big Brownie smile!
